Men’s Classic Taper – Part 2

In this 4 part blog series you will learn how to create the men’s classic tapered haircut the easy way. I have been saying throughout my whole career that if you do not put a line in you don’t have to blend it out. Basically, you are cutting out the blending step which causes the most amount of work, stress, and anxiety.

Men’s Classic Taper – Part 2 – Create Your Guide

This is one of the most talked about and debated topics when it comes to cutting men’s hair cutting and fading. The easiest way to blend men’s hair is to cut the top first and work your way down. The next step is to cut your guide at the round of the head area so you will have a guide to blend to.This is sometimes referred to as reverse blending. The idea is to remove the weight from the top first so you do not create a heavy weight line that you will have to blend out. When you cut the taper with the clipper in the next step it will move with ease through the hair and you will not loose sight of the cutting blade when you get to the blending area. This is what creates a smooth blend with less work.

Men’s Classic Taper – Part 1

In this 4 part blog series you will learn how to create the men’s classic tapered haircut the easy way. I have been saying throughout my whole career that if you do not put a line in you don’t have to blend it out. Basically, you are cutting out the blending step which causes the most amount of work, stress, and anxiety.

Men’s Classic Taper – Part 1 – Start On The Top

By starting on the top first you will be removing length which will make the next step down that much easier. By the time you get to the clipper portion of the haircut you never want to lose sight of the cutting blade putting you in danger of cutting the sides too high. The clipper will flow through the hair much easier and you will leave a natural blend and just about eliminate any blending from the sides and back section to the top section.

Barber Training Classes

This past month we completed another one of our successful barber training classes at Gregory’s Barbershop in Albany, New York. Students drove in from all over New York state to learn the basic fundamentals of barbering. We accomplished this with six hands-on haircuts on manikin heads. Barber Training Classes

Our main points of focus when it comes to barbering basic fundamentals are the four basic men’s hair cutting techniques and correct posture while cutting hair.

We also focused on six men’s hairstyles that gave the students the foundation for whatever they would like to accomplish in barbering/men’s hair cutting.

The next barber training class on our schedule is Monday, February 24th. Please e-mail edu@howtocuthair.tv or call 518-629-5394 for more information and to reserve your seat. They are filling up fast.

Keep an eye out for upcoming dates for future classes if you can’t make it to the next one….
