The Ivy League haircut for children is a great hairstyle for those kids who have a circular growth pattern around their head with the hair in the crown always wanting to stand up. The idea is that we clipper the crown area to the same length as the sides and back and blend into the top and front. Especially with a circular growth pattern the hair lays down nicely and combs to the side easily. This style will grow out evenly and is easy for the child or parents to brush in the morning.
The following video tutorial demonstrates how to cut and style this very popular haircut for young boys.
1. Cut over the crown with a number 3 clipper guard or blade.
2. Fade up to the top with the number 3 clipper guard or blade.
3. Finish the sides and the back with a number 2 clipper guard or blade.
4. Outline the haircut by tapering with an adjustable haircut and finish with an outliner.
5. Blend the top with the clipper over comb technique leaving the hair longer towards the front.
6. Use the scissor over comb technique to touch up the front leaving it long enough to comb to the side and flip up in the front if desired.
7. Style with Zorian Of New York grooming cream for a medium hold and medium shine that will last all day. The grooming cream is infused with all natural ingredients of coconut oil and lavender oil to keep the hair and scalp moisturized with a healthy shine. The product will rinse out with ease without any leftover residue.

In this barber video tutorial learn how to cut and style short men’s clipper cut. Begin by cutting the top with the barber shear over comb technique. For thick hair follow up with the thinning shear over comb technique. Next, fade the sides with a 3 ½ metal blade down to a 1 ½ blade. Keep the fade below the temples. Touch up the blend with the clipper over comb technique using a 1 ½ blade for a more blended cut. Fade out the neckline with an adjustable clipper starting in the longest setting down to the shortest and finish off with an outliner.
Style the hair forward with a slight flip up in the front. Start by applying a drop Zorian Of New York firm hold gel. Our gel is a specialty blend gel is alcohol free and contains aloe vera to keep your skin and hair moisturized while avoiding flaking. Using a hair dryer dry the hair forward and then up in front. This will mold the hair into place.
Next, use the Zorian of New York Shaping paste which is very easy to work with. It emulsifies like a cream without clumping in your hands or your hair and has a very strong hold. The Zorian of New York shaping paste is also infused with the powerful antioxidant vitamin E which helps to keep your hair and scalp healthy. It also contains rosemary which will keep your hair and scalp moisturized. Emulsify a full fingertip portion in your hands. Rub throughout the hair by pushing it forward and then back getting the product down to the roots for extra hold. Finally, push the hair back down forward and push up in the front with a little bit of a messy texture look.

This past month we completed another one of our successful barber training classes at Gregory’s Barbershop in Albany, New York. Students drove in from all over New York state to learn the basic fundamentals of barbering. We accomplished this with six hands-on haircuts on manikin heads.
Our main points of focus when it comes to barbering basic fundamentals are the four basic men’s hair cutting techniques and correct posture while cutting hair.
We also focused on six men’s hairstyles that gave the students the foundation for whatever they would like to accomplish in barbering/men’s hair cutting.
The next barber training class on our schedule is Monday, February 24th. Please e-mail email@example.com or call 518-629-5394 for more information and to reserve your seat. They are filling up fast.
Keep an eye out for upcoming dates for future classes if you can’t make it to the next one….
We have just released a new video available to all of our premium members called the Modern Side Part. In this video you will learn how to fade hair correctly as well as how to cut in a side part.
The Modern Side Part hairstyle is a really interesting take on an old classic and is very versatile. The sides are either short or faded really close. The fade can be even all the way around or disconnected on the part side depending on the customers preference. In other words, the hair can be faded all the way up to the part but blended on the opposite side. Finally, the part is cut into the haircut. This is done with the finishing clipper by cutting a thin line along the natural part. Depending on the length on the top the hair can be styled flat to the head or with some height like a Pompadour.
